'Friends of the Library' at ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ Publishes New Resource on Louisiana History
The "Friends of the Library," a non-profit volunteer organization that supports University Library at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, recently published the "Bibliography of Louisiana Parish History: A Sourcebook for Local History," compiled by Dr. H. Glenn Jordan.
Jordan says he completed the work in response to the many Louisiana-related history questions he has received over his 30-year career as historian, professor and archivist.
A provider of source information on the history and culture of all 64 parishes and their inhabitants, the book contains full bibliographic citations which should be of value to a wide range of researchers from junior high school students to academic researchers and genealogists.
In announcing this publication, "Friends" President Elaine Smith expressed her appreciation to Dr. Jordan for donating his work to "Friends."
"This publication provides a new, reasonably priced resource in hopes that many people will be able to discover more about the local and regional history of Louisiana," Smith said.
The bibliography is available by mail for $15 per book, plus $4.50 for tax, shipping and handling. Proceeds will benefit University Library. Checks should be made payable to the ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ Foundation. Orders may be mailed to: FOL-ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥, c/o University Library, University of Louisiana at Monroe, Monroe, LA 71209. The book is also available in BellTower Books, the "Friends'" resale bookshop located on the fourth floor of the University Library.
