ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ Honors Program Presents Faculty Awards
Six University of Louisiana at Monroe faculty members were recognized Wednesday for their accomplishments in the University's Honors Program. The winners were chosen by students in the Honors Program.
Dr. Chris Blackburn, Instructor Bob Jordan and Dr. Bruce Olberding were honored as Outstanding Faculty members.
Blackburn is an Assistant Professor of History who teaches Western Civilization for the Honors Program. His area of specialization is 18th Century Europe, particularly France and Poland.
Jordan, an English instructor, teaches the introductory composition/literature class for first semester freshmen. He recently designed and piloted a freshman writing course entitled "Argumentative and Persuasive Writing."
An Assistant Professor of Mathematics, Olberding's class addressed the history and theory of Mathematics. He has published and made presentations in his field and conducted a seminar in Pedova, Italy, last summer.
Other honors went to Dr. Anita Sharma, Assistant Professor of Social Work, for her Colloquium "Repressed Childhood Memories: Issues of Validity and Ethics in Treatment;" Assistant Professor of Management and Marketing Dr. Bruce Walker for his Colloquium "The Relationship Between the Americans with Disabilities Act and Attention Deficit and Hyper-Activity Disorder;" and Dr. Jerry Ingram, the Nelson Abell Professor of Entrepreneurship Studies, for his presentation "BAYOU WOEBEGONE: Louisiana in the 20th Century, Where All the Economic Indicators are Below Average."
