"Meeting your Federal Tax Obligations" Class at ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥
A workshop designed to provide students with an introduction to business tax fundamentals, tax benefits and obligations, and employer tax responsibilities will be offered by the University of Louisiana at Monroe's Small Business Development Center.
"Meeting Your Federal Tax Obligation, Part I," a free class, will be offered on Monday, Oct. 11 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ Administration Building, room 2-105. Part II of the class will meet on Tuesday, Oct. 12 at the same time and in the same location.
Among the topics of discussion in Part I will be: the basics of preparing your business tax returns, withholding and estimating federal taxes, tax advantages and disadvantages of sole proprietorships, partnerships and corporations, and records you need to keep and how good records benefit your business.
Part II of the workshop will explore selected topics in federal taxes. This workshop will include a discussion of tax laws, common IRS schedules, business deductions, and tax computation for small business owners. Rose Calk of the Internal Revenue Service and Sharon Scioneaux from the Department of Revenue and Taxation are speakers for the class.
