Blue Cross and Blue Shield chief to address ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ summer grads
Kathryn M. Sullivan, President and Chief Executive Officer of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana and a 1978 Accounting graduate of the University of Louisiana at Monroe, will deliver ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥'s Summer Commencement address Saturday, Aug. 12.
Commencement Ceremonies begin at 2 p.m. at Fant-Ewing Coliseum.
Sullivan, CPA, CLU, is the first woman to serve as president and chief executive officer of Louisiana's largest health insurance company in Blue Cross' 66-year history. A noted innovative problem solver skilled at financial and operational analysis, she has served as a corporate strategist and key member of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana's Executive Management Committee since 1993.
A native of Jennings, Sullivan joined Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana in 1982. She holds executive management experience in nearly every division of the organization, including financial, operations, marketing, managed care and benefits administration. Sullivan was executive vice president and chief financial officer prior to her selection by the Blue Cross Board of Directors in July 1999 as president-elect and chief operating officer.
Many of Sullivan's contributions to Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana have been in the areas of organizational improvement and redesign, financial, business development and resource management. She holds certification as a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and Certified Public Accountant.
