Criminal Justice at ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ hosting Juvenile Justice Think Tank
The Criminal Justice Department at the University of Louisiana at Monroe is hosting Juvenile Justice Think Tank 2000 today through Saturday.
Louisiana Community Policing Institute/LSU, Shreveport and the Institute for Corrections and Juvenile Justice, University of Louisiana at Monroe have created this forum in which a diverse and creative group of individuals can come together to examine the social, physical, governmental and academic environments in which the youth of our state are living and learning.
Among the guests are Richard Stadler, Head of the Louisiana Department of Corrections, Karen Hallstrom of the Louisiana Supreme Court, and representatives of Prevent Child Abuse Louisiana, the Swanson Correctional Center for Youth, CASA New Orleans Juvenile Court, and others.
The program got underway this morning and a lunch from 11:30-1 p.m. today will feature "100 Years of Juvenile Justice, what have we learned and where do we go from here?" Friday's 11:30-1 lunch will feature a guest speaker on the topic "Juvenile Justice in Louisiana." This afternoon there will be meetings and breakout sessions and there will be more breakout sessions Friday afternoon. Saturday morning, groups will make presentations to close out the conference.
The conference is being held in the University Conference Center on the 7th floor of University Library. All members of the media are invited to attend.
