ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ art exhibition winners
The Department of Art at the University of Louisiana at Monroe has announced the winners of the Seventh Annual High School Juried Art Exhibition, currently on view at ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥'s Bry Art Gallery.
This Competition will be on view through March 30. The Bry Art Gallery is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.
Junior and senior high school students from Ouachita parish and surrounding parishes entered the competition. Each student was eligible to enter up to three works in any studio medium that were completed during school.
A jury of three ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ art faculty members selected 72 works to be accepted into this competitive exhibition from a field of 276 entries.
A best of Show Award was presented to Ashford Sims of Carroll High School in recognition of a figurative graphite drawing. Awards of Merit were presented to Victor Villarreal of Bastrop High School, Caleb Clark of Cedar Creek High School, and Elizabeth Jones, Ian Blaylock and Matthew Voorhees of Neville High School. Caleb Clark of Cedar Creek, Joni Kennedy of Ouachita Christian School and Megan Medley of Neville High School received Beverly Jean Marvin Art Scholarships to the ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ Department of Art.
Other high school students with accepted works were: Robert Bayless, Dane Harkness, Casey Long, Jeffery Jones, Kaci Rhodes, Jarret Fowler, Rachel Hughes, Erin Easom, Jessica Bagwell, Montreal Eave, Alex Bonsall, Pamela Jones, Amanda Newnum, Louellen Moore and Laura Beth Carroll of Bastrop High School; Carol Ashley and Dustin Green of Cedar Creek High School; Josh Barnes, Cherish McCormick and Amanda Ross of River Oaks High School; Joey Montgomery, Alger Johnson, Bennie Miley and Jamar Goddin of Wossman High School; Carly Robertson, Jason Harrison, Eric Taylor and Courtney Walker of Ouachita Christian School; Adam Bethea, Kathryn Dowd, Justin Davis and Jason Holloway of Ouachita Parish High School; Valtonika Miller and Loe Cummings of Carroll High School; Sara Smith, Jeremy Hendrix and Jakki Thornton of Winnsboro High School; Sarah Savage and Dustin Abadco of St. Frederick High School; and Chris Batley, Meredith McDaniel, Katie Pankey, Ginny Brown and Justin Ghanami of Neville High School.
