ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ professor attends AARP Media Workshop
Dr. Jan Bowman, Associate Professor of Gerontology at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, recently attended "Mission Possible: Aging Well" a workshop for journalists on issues and ideas in aging. The workshop, which was held in Orlando, Fla. was sponsored by the AARP Andrus Foundation in cooperation with the Journalist Exchange on Aging.
For 32 years, the AARP Andrus Foundation has been dedicated to funding research that supports independent living in practical ways. The Foundation has supported more than 625 research projects with grants totaling over $33 million.
Bowman addressed the workshop on her research regarding the displacement of millions of workers in the United States despite strong employment growth and relatively low unemployment over the past several years. Her research found surprising shifts in displacement towards the western region of the U.S.
