ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ pharmacy students receive national awards
Jennifer Cain, a second-year Doctor of Pharmacy student at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, has received one of 12 Merck Research Scholar Program awards conferred nationally for 2000-2001.
ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥'s College of Pharmacy will receive financial support for Cain's research project, "Vitamin E Inhibition of Protein Kinase C Activation in Breast Cancer Cells" with Dr. Paul Sylvester. Cain will travel to Toronto, Canada, to present her research results at the July 2001 AACP Annual Meeting.
Another second-year ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ Doctor of Pharmacy student, LeAnn Sturdivant, is one of 12 recipients of the 2001 Gateway Research Scholarship. The College of Pharmacy will receive financial support for her research project, "Vitamin E Activation of Apoptosis in Breast Cancer Cells" with Dr. Paul Sylvester.
