ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥'s English department to raise money for National turnrow this Saturday
Faculty within the Department of English have undertaken the publication of a biannual literary journal that publishes creative nonfiction of general interest, short fiction, poetry, and visual art. This journal, named turnrow, is about 120 pages long, digest-sized, and handsomely printed with full color graphics. turnrow is a referred journal, meaning only the best of professional writing is selected for printing. In the first issue, two Pulitzer Prize nominees were featured as well as seventeen other established writers. Collectively, the writers have published some 65 books amongst them.
To raise funds for the publication of this journal, we are hosting a benefit starring Kim Hill De Witt, the singer who performed Always, Patsy Cline locally. She and keyboard specialist, Gary Savage, will be presenting a program of music on Saturday, Oct. 20, from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at 1215 Finks Hideaway Road, the bayou home of Linda and Mike Hart. There will be food and drink provided by area businesses and the English faculty and hot gumbo prepared by Dean Carlos Fandal.
The $25 tickets are tax deductible and are available at the ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ English Department. Tickets can also be purchased at Casual Corner in Pecanland Mall.
