ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ to hold Spanish Festival for Area High Schoolers

The University of Louisiana at Monroe Department of Foreign Languages is sponsoring a Spanish Festival for high school students. It all happens this Saturday, Feb. 23 in the Student Union Building from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The quiz bowl begins at 10:00 a.m. and lasts until 11:00 a.m. For the remaining time various area schools will be doing presentations with dance, song, and skits.

The festival is held in conjunction with the Antonio Margilk Chapter of the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese, and the ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ Department of Foreign Languages. The day is comprised of Spanish students from eight high schools. The students will participate in different activities designed to encourage their use of language and their understanding of the culture. High school students and ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ students will organize the festival under the supervision of Maria Blanca Wortham, Instructor of Spanish at ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥.
