ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ "Flying Tomahawks" win top honor at regional competition
The 2002 Regional SAFECON competition is over and the University of Louisiana at Monroe Flying Tomahawks faired well. The competition was held at Delta State University, October 29 -November 2. ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ competed against seven other teams and won the prestigious Safety Trophy. Shane Roberts, team captain, said they will continue expanding on their safety program in an effort to keep the traveling trophy in Monroe.
The Tomahawks also received third place in Flying Competitions. Although ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ missed an invitation to nationals by one place, the team feels this will give them extra time to build on what they have accomplished in the past several months and allow them to be in a good position next fall.
ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ will host the Regional Competition next fall. The team would like to thank everyone who competed and everyone who provided support.
