Theatre Department Holds Auditions for Comedic Play
Auditions for Aristophanes' classic comedy LYSISTRATA, to be performed at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, will be held Monday, March 1 at 7 p.m. in the Spyker Theatre.
LYSISTRATA is an ancient tale of women withholding sexual favors from their husbands until the men lay aside their weapons and cease all wars. While the play originally made reference to the Greek war between Athens and Sparta, where "brother fought brother", the ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ TheatreWorks production will recast the play into the American Civil War era.
The role of Lysistrata will feature a professional guest artist. Numerous other roles for adult men and women of all ages are available. Auditions will consist of readings from the script and improvisations. No experience is required. Rehearsals are scheduled Sunday to Thursday evenings. LYSISTRATA opens April 29 and plays through May 8. For more information, contact ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ theatre Director John Kelly at 342-1413.
