ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ Voice Faculty in Concert
The School of Visual and Performing Arts Division of Music
at the University of Louisiana at Monroe will present its Faculty
Artist Concert Series Thursday, Jan. 29 at 7:30 in the Emy-Lou
Biedenharn Recital Hall. The concert will feature the ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ vocal
faculty singing selections from opera, operetta, and music theatre
including works of Verdi, Johann Strauss, Donizetti, Puccini,
Copland, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Fred Bock. Tickets are $7 each
and will be available at the door or may be reserved by calling
342-3811. Kilpatrick Funeral Home is sponsoring the concert.
Solos and ensembles will be featured, with performers including:
Louis Nabors, associate professor of voice, bass. Nabors has
performed with the Arizona Opera Company, Houston Grand Opera,
and the Los Angeles Opera and regularly tours Europe. Martha
Hollier, Biedenharn Endowed Chair in Music, soprano. Hollier
is from Russia and was a soloist for the Bolshoi Opera before
coming to the United States. Johnny Ray Jones, assistant professor
of voice and Director of Choral Studies, tenor. Jones is active
in many regional music theatre productions and will be performing
the part of Harold Hill in the upcoming production of "The
Music Man" at the Strauss Theatre. Kristen Oden, instructor
of voice, soprano. Oden has been featured soloist with the Little
Rock Symphony, Pine Bluff Symphony, South Arkansas Symphony,
and the Monroe Symphony. Richard Novak, assistant professor of
voice and Opera Director, tenor. Mr. Novak joined the ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ faculty
this year from the prestigious opera programs of the University
of North Texas and Stephen F. Austin University.
