Panel Discussion Sponsored by the Association of Students in Kinesiology
The Association of Students in Kinesiology (A.S.K.), in conjunction
with the Department of Kinesiology, plans to host a panel discussion
about the role of parenting in youth athletics. The discussion
will be broadcast via compressed video to other universities
with kinesiology student organizations and will include members
from area youth leagues, sports officials, and coaches.
The goal of the association is to begin a semi-annual lecture
series on topics relating to health, physical education, recreation,
fitness, and sports. The A.S.K. hopes that the series will establish
ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ as a leader in bringing these issues to the local community,
as well as help recruit future students to ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥.
The organization has purchased a newly created video about this
issue, which will be shown at the beginning of the evening. Once
completed, each panel member will be asked to provide a short
comment on the video and/or their take on the issue of parenting
in athletics. The floor will then be open for a question and
answer session.
The date is tentatively set for August 31, from 6:30-8 p.m. in
Strauss Hall, Room 148. For further information please contact
Mark Doherty, A.S.K. Advisor at 342-3155.
