ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ Graduate Displays Art Work on Campus
The Bry Art Gallery at the University of Louisiana at Monroe is currently showing a One-person Exhibition in Painting and Drawing by Toni Lyons Parks of West Monroe. Ms. Parks received her undergraduate degree in art education from ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥, and is currently finishing a Master of Fine Arts degree in painting and drawing at Louisiana Tech University. It is a custom of the ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ Division of Art to offer graduates the opportunity to display their M.F.A. exhibitions from another university at their original alma mater.
Park's exhibition major statement consists of large mixed-media, oil and collage non-objective and highly abstract imagery on board. Also on display are a series of abstracted mixed-media landscape and still life images on board, non-objective oil paintings on found objects, metal planes, a series of figurative oil paintings as well as a series of oil on board figure studies. In addition to her paintings, the artist is showing figurative charcoal drawings and still life silverprint photographs.
On Friday, February 20 Parks was honored with an artist's reception in the ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ Division of Art Bry Gallery.
The Parks exhibition will be on view through March 11. Bry Art Gallery is open from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM on weekdays.
