ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥'s Spring Ring Campaign a Great Opportunity for Students to Get Involved
The University of Louisiana at Monroe Foundation announces the launch of its 2004 Annual Giving Campaign with a new campus contest and outreach event called "The Pecanland Mall ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ Spring Ring." This four-week on-campus event is sponsored by Pecanland Mall and will be held March 15-April 7.
In this contest, directed by the ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ Office of Advancement, current ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ students will volunteer to call friends and alumni to rekindle old ties and ask for financial contributions to help ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ attract new students from throughout the south.
For each hour a student calls, that student gets one chance to win cash and other prizes. The top prize is $1,000. Students can call for as many hours as they want, under the direction of the Advancement Office, allowing them to increase their chances of winning. They can call on behalf of their student organization, or on their own behalf.
"We want to talk with our alumni about all the great things going on in 2004 at ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥. Thousands of our alumni are making annual gifts now, and we think many more of them will want to help when they hear about all the progress here." said Greg Nelson, ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥'s Director of Annual Giving. "We think our students will enjoy the contest, and the conversations, and we want to thank Pecanland Mall for making this Spring Ring possible." Nelson came to ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ from a similar position at the University of New Orleans in June of 2003.
All calls will be made from the ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ Foundation's new offices at 3601 DeSiard Street. Prize winners will be drawn at a prize gala April 28th in the ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ Conference Center. Major funding for the prizes and other expenses in this month-long phon-a-thon are being provided by Pecanland Mall.
Money raised through the Spring Ring will go to the ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ Foundation. "That foundation helps fund ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ visits to regional centers across the tri-state area. These visits build relationships with prospective students, their families, and alum. In the last 12 months ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ has dramatically increased its abilities to attract students from throughout Louisiana, Arkansas and Mississippi by events like these," said Nelson.
Students can sign up for Spring Ring online at www.ulm.edu/giving, or call Greg Nelson at 318-342-3684. Businesses that wish to participate through sponsorship or prize donation should call Nelson as well.
