Candlelight Vigil to be Held on Campus Friday
A candlelight vigil in honor of the U.S. soldiers and Iraqi civilians who have died during the recent conflict in Iraq will be held at the fountain on the University of Louisiana at Monroe campus Friday, March 19th at 6 pm. The event is being headed by ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ student Ricky Bridges, a U.S. Army veteran, to "simply put some names with the numbers," Bridges said.
The program will consist of the names of the deceased being read by volunteers. The number of casualties is, at present, 565 soldiers, and 250 civilians. Roger Beall of Winnsboro will be on hand to play Taps, as will cadets of the ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ ROTC. March 20th will mark the one-year anniversary of the war in Iraq.
