ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ Symphony Orchestra Performance
The University of Louisiana at Monroe Symphony Orchestra will present a concert on Monday, November 22 at 7:30 p.m. in Brown Auditorium on the ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ campus. This concert will feature music by Charles Young, Hector Berlioz, Benjamin Britten, Henry Cowell, Theron Kirk, and Richard Wagner. The Orchestra is conducted by Myron Turner. There is no admission charge for the event.
Featured on the program will be Fanfare to The Northern Sky by Young, a new composition featuring the brass and percussion sections, Hungarian March by Berlioz, several movements from American Country Set, a not so well known collection of American style folk-tunes, the Simple Symphony for string orchestra by Britten, Hemis Dance by Kirk which features strings and percussion in a "south of the border" sound, and will close with Richard Wagner's prelude to the opera, Die Meistersinger zu Nurnberg (The Mastersingers of Nuremburg).
