25th Annual Golden Arrow Award Winner Announced; Other Annual ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ Awards to be Announced at Awards Brunch

On Saturday, October 15 at 9:30 a.m., University of Louisiana at Monroe alumnus Tim Holcomb will receive the Golden Arrow Award at the annual ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ Alumni Awards Brunch at the Anna Gray Noe Alumni Center.

The Golden Arrow Award is the highest honor bestowed upon ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ alumni for outstanding personal and professional achievements.

At the brunch, awards for the Alumni Chapter of the Year, and the ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ Service Award will be presented. All ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ Alumni and friends are invited to RSVP for the brunch by calling ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ Alumni Relations at (318) 342-5421. The event is co-sponsored by the ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ Student Government Association and will be at the Anna Gray Noe Alumni Center. The 2005 Homecoming Court and former homecoming kings and queens will be recognized during the brunch.

"Tim Holcomb epitomizes the type of alumnus every university cherishes," said Don Weems, the current ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ Alumni Association President and former Golden Arrow Award recipient. "He has demonstrated a long and continuing involvement and commitment to his alma mater. He has given of his time, resources and energy to support ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ and its Alumni Association. The Golden Arrow Award could not be better represented."

Holcomb earned a BBA and MBA from ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ and participated in numerous academic extracurricular activities while in attendance as a student. Since his graduation from ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥, Holcomb has served his alma mater as regional vice president of ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥'s Alumni Association, as a member of ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥'s Alumni Board and as a member of the ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ Indian Athletic Foundation's board of directors.

Holcomb has twenty years of entrepreneurial, international management, and strategic consulting experience, including work in the U.S. and more than twenty-five countries abroad. Most recently, he served as a senior vice president at Flextronics International, a $14 billion multinational electronics manufacturing services firm, where he had responsibility for the company's global services, sales and marketing organizations.

"Tim Holcomb represents the best of the attributes of the Golden Arrow Award," said Bruce Hanks, the 2004 Golden Arrow Award recipient and former Director of Athletics. "He is an alumnus that has been highly successful in his career and has always gone beyond the call in support of his alma mater. I first met Tim in a business meeting and he was quick to point out the fact that he had attended the University of Louisiana at Monroe. I was struck by the pride that he obviously felt for his university. When I became the Director of Athletics, Tim was one of the first to call to ask what he could do to help. He never wanted anything except to give back to his school."

Over the past two years, Holcomb's research has been published in the Strategic Management Journal and in several edited periodicals. He has also presented his research at several conferences and annual academic meetings, including the Academy of Management, the Strategic Management Society, the Academy of International Business, the Southern Management Association, and the Consortium on International Entrepreneurship.

Holcomb and his wife, Marla, are lifetime members of the ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ Alumni Association and the ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ Letterman's Club. They are also founding members of the ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ College of Business Administration's Millenium Club, and continue to support the ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ Foundation and the ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ Indian Athletic Foundation.

Tim, Marla, and their two children, reside in College Station, Texas. Holcomb retired from corporate management to spend more time with his family. In 2003, Holcomb enrolled in the doctoral program at Mays Business School at Texas A&M University, where he is pursuing a Ph.D. in strategic management and entrepreneurship.
