VAPA to Present 'Back Pack' Opera
Old MacDonald and his barnyard animals bring their musical story "There is No Place Like Home" to Kiroli Park Friday, April 28. School performances are scheduled for pre-K through first-grade students at 9, 10, 11 a.m. and noon.
An evening performance for families is at 6:30 p.m. Performances last 35 minutes.
School group reservations must be made in advance by calling ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ at 318-342-3811. Tickets are $2 for each adult and child. The Kiroli Park admission fee is included in the ticket price. Payment confirms the reservation. Tickets not paid for by April 14 will be offered to schools on the waiting list. Reservations are not necessary for the evening performance.
Groups and families may enjoy the park before and following the performance.
There are multiple play areas and the park allows picnicking.
Back Pack Opera is in its fourth season. ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥'s Division of Music/School of Performing Arts is this year's sole sponsor. Back Pack Opera performers are music education students studying to become school music teachers. Dr. Andy Goodman, associate professor of music education at ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥, is the artistic director.
