Toy drive benefits 116 children

The second annual ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ Toy Box Drive was a "huge success," with over 300 toys collected for the 116 children enrolled in Family Matters and Family Connections, local programs for abused and neglected children.

Molly Pealer, adviser of the 31 Ambassadors and assistant director of Alumni Programs, is happy with the results of the drive, which is sponsored by the ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ 31 Ambassadors, a student service organization administered by the Alumni Association, and the ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ softball team.

“I’m not surprised, but sincerely pleased by the generosity of our ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ family and our community this year. We asked for new toys and cash donations with which to buy new toys and have collected enough to give each child in the program at least two gifts," Pealer said. "The ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ Toy Box is just another example of how the spirit of the season is alive and well in our area. I’m especially proud of our students.â€
