Bry Art Gallery Continues to Display Grambling Art Faculty Work As Part of an Exchange Faculty Exhibition Program

The Bry Art Gallery at the University of Louisiana at Monroe is currently showing a group exhibition by the art faculty at Grambling State University. This exhibition is a part of an exchange faculty exhibition program underway at both institutions.

On display are figurative mixed media paintings on paper by Donna McGee, wherein the artist has juxtaposed drawing, collage applications and the written word with her color statements. Larry Holston has also presented a cohesive body of work, personified by tight crops of chromatically expressive jazz musicians and their instruments.

Joey Slaughter's contributions are large vinyl and acrylic superimpositions of landscape, still life and mysterious highly abstracted forms, all generated from computer images. Tommie Sue Slaughter has offered clay in its many possible variants, tactile figurative images existing with masses of pure clay in wall-hanging reliefs, freestanding series of similar figures and traditional utilitarian pieces employing horse-hair linear variations as a decorative motif.

Linda Ward has submitted abstracted still life in landscape pencil drawings as well as figurative drawings in triptych format embellished with assemblage sculptural additions and fragments of her creative writing, plus a figurative harmonious grouping of hand sewn soft sculptures.

This exhibition will be on view through March 9. The Bry Art
Gallery is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 8 a.m. until noon on Fridays.

The ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ faculty exhibition will travel to Grambling on February 24 and will remain on display through March 16.
