VAPA Presents Artistic Events

The University of Louisiana at Monroe’s School of Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) has plenty to offer the cultural enthusiast this semester.

ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ TheatreWorks, in conjunction with the ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ Division of Music, will present the comic opera "The Magic Flute" by W. A. Mozart Feb. 16-17, beginning at 7:30 p.m. each evening. There will also be matinee showings on Feb. 18 and 19 at 2 p.m. The opera will be held at Brown Theatre for all performances.

Tickets are $15 general admission, $10 for seniors/children and are free for ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ faculty, staff and students. Call the Theatre box office at 318-342-1414 for your ticket reservations beginning Monday, Feb. 13.

The Chamber Arts Brass Quintet will perform for audiences on Tuesday, Feb. 21 as part of the Faculty Artist Concert Series. The quintet is made up of ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ Division of Music faculty, featuring Marilynn Gibson and Jack White (retired), trumpets; John David Smith, horn; Micah Everett, trombone; and Myron Turner, tuba.

The event begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Biedenharn Recital Hall. Tickets for the general public are $7. The concert is free for ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ students, faculty and staff with I.D.
