Dr. LuoLuo Hong Speaks at ۽ֱ as Part of Women's History Month
On March 27, in celebration of Women’s History Month, Dr. LuoLuo Hong will share her story in her lecture "I Am Woman Hear Me Roar: Breaking the Superwoman Myth." Hong will speak at 7 p.m. in Brown Auditorium.
When Dr. LuoLuo (pronounced "lo-lo") Hong was raped as a first-year college student, it was clear the event would change her life; but not even Hong herself knew just how much. Her victimization became a powerful story of survival, and she used her story to turn her life into a vehicle for educating and empowering others. Fourteen years later, she is a health director, a motivational speaker, an activist, and yes, still a survivor.
“I do this because I love students,” she said, “and because I care about them. I believe that each person has the ability to make fundamental changes in their lives. My goal is to help each student believe that about themselves, and let them know they're worth the effort."
