2006 Christmas Madrigal Feaste Dec. 1, 2
The University of Louisiana at Monroe's annual Christmas Madrigal Feaste is fast approaching; performances are Dec. 1, 2 in Brown Gymnasium at 6 p.m. each night.
The Christmas Madrigal Feaste at ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ is a grand celebration in the tradition of Elizabethan England. The Galliard Brass usher in the guests with festive music played from the front of the hall. Brass fanfares introduce the different courses of the Feaste; courtly music of the Renaissance is played by the recorder consort.
Guests will enjoy a sumptuous meal. The ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ Chamber Singers, under the director of Deborah Chandler, will perform Christmas music, as well as traditional Madrigal music. The castle setting will be resplendent with candles, glittering costumes and the symbolic greenery.
