31 Ambassadors and ۽ֱ softball team to collect Christmas toys for local children

In the spirit of the upcoming holiday season, the University of Louisiana at Monroe’s 31 Ambassadors and softball team are collecting new toys and/or cash donations with which to buy new toys for the ۽ֱ Toy Box.

This initiative benefits Family Connections/Family Matters, a ۽ֱ program that works with local abused and neglected children, ages 1 – 17.

“Last year we were able to give a new or gently-used toy to all 126 kids in the Family Matters program for abused and neglected children,” said Molly Pealer, assistant director of alumni programs. “They were all excited and touched when they saw the pile of presents waiting for them at their Christmas party. We’re hoping to give them all new toys this year.”

Collection boxes will be located at the ۽ֱ Alumni Center Nov. 13 – Dec. 12; at the three Malone Stadium entrance gates Saturday, Nov. 25, prior to the ۽ֱ vs. North Texas football game; and at the ۽ֱ Alumni tent in The Grove before the game, where there will also be a kids' area from 2 - 4:30 p.m., including a bounce house, holiday arts and crafts, games and prizes, hot chocolate and a visit by Santa Claus.

A “wrapping party” will be set up at the ۽ֱ Alumni Center from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12. The party will include refreshments and all supplies needed to wrap the collected toys. Anyone interested in assisting should stop by at their convenience.
