Associate Dean nominated outstanding university professor
Ruth Smith, associate dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and head of ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥â€™s foreign languages department, was nominated "Outstanding University Professor" by the local chapter of the AATSP (American Association for Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese - the Antonio Margil Chapter) this past weekend in Ruston.
The local nomination means Smith’s name will be submitted to the national chapter. She established this chapter, one of only two in the state, the other one being the New Orleans chapter.
Five ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ faculty members also attended the meeting. Charles Holloway, a foreign languages professor at ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥, is currently the treasurer.
