Harris participates in 2008 Annual Conference on College Composition and Communication
ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥â€™s Dr. Christopher Harris, assistant professor of English, participated earlier in the professional year at the 2008 Annual Conference on College Composition and Communication in New Orleans in April.
Harris presented at the "Writing Realities, Changing Realities" themed conference as part of the Digital Identities Workshop. He focused on ways to use emerging social software to facilitate teaching, learning and program administration.
In his portion of the workshop, "Using Wikis to Manage Writing Programs: Constructing Community with Collaboration," Harris explained what wikis are and then discussed how academic administrators can use wiki software to streamline academic operations, such as posting programmatic documents for simultaneous review and editing from multiple locations by multiple people, by collaborating on committee work, and by scheduling evaluation meetings.
The conference's half-day workshops offered attendees extensive interaction with presenters, who discussed ways of tackling the diversity of issues associated with teaching college composition.
Other presenters in the Digital Identities Workshop hailed from Louisiana Tech University, Bowling Green State University, Central Michigan State University, Saint Cloud State University, and Missouri State University.
