The concert on March 3 will feature the composer's choral music; some of his most reputedly inspiring choral works will be sung by the ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ Concert Choir, conducted by Dr. Deborah Chandler, director of the school’s choral activities.
On Tuesday, March 4 at 7:30 p.m. in the Emy-Lou Biedenharn Recital Hall, the ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ Symphonic Band and ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ Orchestra will present "The Centennial Fanfare" and a piano concerto, with ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ piano faculty member Richard Seiler accompanied by the ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ Wind Ensemble. The Wednesday concert March 5 will change venue to The First Presbyterian Church, 1201 Stubbs, for a program at 7:30 p.m. that focuses on the Paulus chamber music, performed by the ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ Music Division Faculty. Jim Reifinger, Mark McCleery, Coralie White, Scot Humes, Chris Thompson, and Seiler will perform. Music graduates Joy and Matthew Witherow are also featured in this performance.
Paulus' composing talents have been described by New Yorker magazine as, "...a bright, fluent inventor with a ready lyric gift." He has been commissioned to write for many respected musical organizations, including the New York Philharmonic, The Dallas and Houston Symphonies, and the St. Louis Operas. The Paulus residency is co-sponsored by the ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ Division of Music and Ecoutez Press.
