Anderson leads local discussion on Vikings Nov. 10; has second book published
Dr. Jeff Anderson, assistant professor of history at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, will lead a discussion on “Ice, Fire, and Blood: The Gods of the Vikings” Monday, Nov. 10, at the Ouachita Parish Public Library, Main Branch, beginning at 6 p.m.
Anderson’s program addressed Norse mythology and related it to the medieval Vikings’ way of life.
His work was also recently published in “Hoodoo, Voodoo, and Conjure: A Handbook,” Friday, Oct. 30, by Greenwood Press.
Anderson described the focus of his second published text. “Though its title may suggest it is a how-to guide, it is not. Instead it is a folklore handbook that examines historical patterns and practices within African-American magical and non-Christian spirituality.”
