ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ Pharmacology Professor to present findings at Malaysian conference
An endowed professor of pharmacology at the University of Louisiana at Monroe will present his anticancer activity findings at the Palm International Nutra-Cosmeceutical Conference, May 24-26, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Paul W. Sylvester, Ph.D., will share his research into anticancer activity that results when a rare form of vitamin E is combined with low doses of traditional cancer chemotherapy.
The Malaysian Palm Oil Council invited Sylvester to present the lecture titled, “Synergistic Anticancer Effects of Combination Gamma-Tocotrienol Treatment with Other Chemotherapeutic Agents.â€
Sylvester and his graduate students also presented the research at the annual meeting of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) in Denver, Colo., in April.
The research demonstrates that the combination therapy not only resulted in a significantly enhanced therapeutic response, but may also eliminate the severe toxic side effects associated with high dose cancer chemotherapy.
Sylvester serves as Director of Graduate Studies and Research at ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥â€™s College of Pharmacy.
