ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ Business and Community Development Center to receive $20,000 boost

The Northeast Louisiana Business and Community Development Center at the University of Louisiana at Monroe is the recipient of a $20,000 community grant from the Chase Foundation.

Chase officials will hold a ceremony to present the check to ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ at 11 a.m., Monday, Jan. 10, on the fifth floor of the Chase Commercial Office, 1900 N. 18th St., Monroe.

According to College of Business Administration Dean Ronald Berry, the ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ Center provides the region development opportunities for leaders of community organizations and businesses, including training programs such as budgeting, leadership, planning, financial literacy, and other business-related topics.

Berry, the grant's author, said the grant funding will be used to expand the training provided to the community, especially to low-to-moderate income level citizens and to the clients of the business incubator which will be housed in the Center.

In addition to ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥, the Chase Foundation is awarding grants to Habitat for Humanity, the Monroe Chamber of Commerce/NOVA, Seeker Springs and United Way, for a total grant award of $125,000. The funding is provided to support community development, affordable housing and education.
