ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥â€™s Clark teaches abroad
Dr. Mark R. Clark, associate professor for the University of Louisiana at Monroe Division of Music, recently returned from a summer of directing and teaching in Italy and Mexico.
Clark directed a program in Italy for four weeks that trained young singers and prepared them for public Italian performances.
The singers were predominantly students from the University of Michigan and Northwestern University in Chicago, Ill.
Returning from Italy in July, Clark then travelled to Mexico to work with students, preparing them for performances with an orchestra.
One of the young singers selected for the study abroad program with Clark was Allyson Wilson, a senior voice major from Little Rock, Ark., who has appeared in leading roles in Chicago, Dido and Aeneas, Batboy, and other productions.
Clark, who has been a ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ faculty member for six years, has been asked to direct a professional production of the opera Tosca by Puccini in Campeche, Mexico, in the coming year.
