۽ֱ administrator to present for Country Music Hall of Fame
Dr. Richard Hood, executive assistant to the president at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, will present on the life and music of guitarist Chet Atkins at the Country Music Hall of Fame.
For the past 10 years, Hood has given the presentation in July as part of the Chet Atkins Convention in Nashville.
This year, in addition to his July presentation, Hood has been asked by the Country Music Hall of fame to present on Atkins March 2-3, 2012, as part of a special emphasis and exhibit on Atkins’ life and career.
Hood, who is in his 22nd year of service at ۽ֱ, is proud of the accomplishment.
“I feel very honored to have been asked to make the presentation,” said Hood. “Chet Atkins was not only a world class musician but a wonderful person who was extremely well thought of by all those who knew him.”
On Friday March 2, Hood will show his presentation to teachers throughout the Nashville area, and on Saturday, March 3, at 1:30 p.m., Hood will present to the general public in Ford Theater at the Hall of Fame.
The title of the presentation is “The Life and Music of Chet Atkins.” Guest guitarists will include Eddie Pennington of Kentucky and Ben Hall of Mississippi.
Both Pennington and Hall are previous National Finger-Style Guitar champions.
Throughout Hood’s presentation, Pennington and Hall will play pieces from each era of Atkins’ life and career.
