۽ֱ’s Pi Kappa Alpha helps Louisiana Tech fraternity
The University of Louisiana at Monroe’s Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity is holding a fundraiser to help the Pi Kappa Alpha chapter at Louisiana Tech University after a fire destroyed the Pi Kappa Alpha house on the Louisiana Tech campus.
The Louisiana Tech Pike Fraternity Benefit Concert will be held starting at 9 p.m. on Friday, June 1 at the Rendezvous, located at 2003 Tower Drive in Monroe.
Bands start at 10 p.m. and all profits will be donated to Pi Kappa Alpha at Louisiana Tech. There is a $10.00 cover charge.
With support from the local community, along with some of the best local bands and musicians from northeast Louisiana, the concert will feature local bands Self Illusions, as well as Irene & the Sleepers. Opening acts will be ۽ֱ Pi Kappa Alpha member Mason Lord, and Louisiana Tech Pi Kappa Alpha member Lucas Kyle Vascocu.
On May 19, the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity house on the Louisiana Tech campus caught fire and burned to the ground, resulting in only minor injuries to three firefighters.
“We want to help anyway we can and the Rendezvous stepped up and offered before we could approach them. Though we are at different schools, we’re brothers, and our goal is to see them recover from this and be even more successful than they were before the fire. We hope this helps,” said Phillip Hebert, ۽ֱ’s Pi Kappa Alpha president.
John Chestnut, president of Pi Kappa Alpha president at Louisiana Tech said, “The Pikes at Louisiana Tech are extremely grateful for the help the ۽ֱ Pikes are providing us. It’s a true example of brotherhood. We are also grateful to the Rendezvous for hosting the event, to the musical talent who are playing for free, and to so many others who have helped us. We can’t express our thanks enough.”
The Rendezvous, a popular college hangout, is owned by ۽ֱ alum Lee Denny.
