ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ biology grad student receives grant
University of Louisiana at Monroe biology graduate student Brittany Miller of Monroe was awarded a research grant in the amount of $1,000.
Advised by Dr. Allison Wiedemeier, assistant professor of biology, Miller wrote the winning research proposal to The Louisiana Environmental Education Commission Grants Program, under the direction of the Louisiana Department of Wildlife & Fisheries.
According to Miller, the funds will be used to purchase novel enzymes, a culture of A. vitis and reference materials. The monies allotted will also provide for both travel expenses to the Louisiana State University Socolofsky Microscopy Center and microscope time.
Miller's objective is to purchase and complete experiments with credible results by the end of spring 2013 in order to attend the 2013 Environmental Education Symposium.
