ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ alum Rep. Katrina R. Jackson to speak at commencement Dec. 8
State Representative and ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ alum Katrina R. Jackson will speak at the University of Louisiana at Monroe Commencement at 10 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 8, in Fant-Ewing Coliseum.
Jackson, an attorney and State Representative for Louisiana House District 16, earned a B.A. in pre-law and legal studies from ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ in 2000.
After graduating from ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥, Jackson earned a Juris Doctor Degree in 2004 from Southern University Law Center.
She concluded her law school career by graduating in the top 14 percent of her class (18 out of 128).
In April 2005, Jackson was admitted to the Louisiana State Bar Association.
Jackson honed her skills and talents as a practicing attorney with the Law Offices of Willie Hunter, Jr. practicing in both the Monroe and Baton Rouge areas.
In 2012, Jackson opened her private law firm, Katrina R. Jackson LLC, 1051 Kansas Lane in Monroe.
She has served as Attorney for Labor & Industrial Relations Committee of the Louisiana House of Representatives and as Executive Director of Louisiana Legislative Black Caucus.
Her current committee assignments are: Agriculture, Forestry, Aquaculture, and Rural Development; Appropriations; Commerce; Health and Welfare; House and Governmental Affairs; House Executive Committee; and Joint Legislative Committee on the Budget.
She also serves on the Democratic Caucus; Secretary of the Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus; Louisiana Rural Caucuses; and First Vice Chair of the Louisiana Legislative Black Caucus.
