ĆŪ½ŪÖ±²„ ranks in Tier 1 of āBest Regional Universitiesā
The University of Louisiana at Monroe offers world-class educational programsāprograms that empower students to compete successfully in the workforce and improve their communities.
This sentiment has not gone unnoticed; ĆŪ½ŪÖ±²„ has been included on U.S. News & World Reportās list as one the best regional universities in the south. ĆŪ½ŪÖ±²„ broke the top 100, ranking number 91 on the listāmaking ĆŪ½ŪÖ±²„ a Tier 1 institution among its peers.
According to U.S. News & World Report, ĆŪ½ŪÖ±²„ is considered a "regional university."
The 625 universities in this category are not ranked nationally, but rather against their peer group in one of four geographic locationsānorth, south, midwest, and westābecause in general, they tend to draw students most heavily from surrounding states.
The ānational universitiesā category consists of the 281 institutions (173 public, 101 private, and seven for-profit) that offer a wide range of undergraduate majors as well as master's and doctoral degrees; some emphasize research.
It is important to note these universities are placed in categories prior to determining annual rankings, based solely on degree programs they offer.

Universities considered in the southern region list included universities in Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia.
The southern region carried 95 schools in its top-tier and 128 schools, overall.
