2016 Panelist: Tammie McDaniel

Tammie McDaniel is the principal of J.S. Clark Magnet School in Monroe. Tammie鈥檚 career as an educator spans 28 years, and she has served as a principal of two elementary schools and a junior high school.

Her in-class experiences include teaching history at public and private schools at the junior and high school levels, as well as an adjunct faculty member in the College of Education at the University of Louisiana Monroe.

She has served on the Louisiana State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education and was the Opinion Page Editor at The (Monroe, La.) News-Star.

She was a table leader at the national AP U.S. History Reading and was awarded a prestigious National Endowment for Humanities Summer Scholar Award, allowing her to study history with other educators for six weeks at Virginia Tech University in Blacksburg, VA.

She had published an article in the Louisiana History Journal entitled 鈥淭he Politics of Sedition: The Trial of Louisiana State Senator S. J. Harper鈥 and chaired the regional branch of the Louisiana Center for Women in Government.

Tammie earned an undergraduate degree in Political Science from Louisiana Tech University and a Master鈥檚 degree in Education from the University of Louisiana Monroe.

Tammie also manages a farm in Franklin Parish which has been in her family for over a century, and is a Louisiana certified Master Farmer, one of only a handful of women in Louisiana who holds this designation.

A longtime member of Rotary International, Tammie has been married to Jack McDaniel for 39 years. They have two married daughters and six beautiful grandchildren.
