DueÌýto the advancements in CACREP and state licensure boards, many clinical mental health and school counselors need additional credit hours to fulfill the 60-hour requirement for licensure or certification. In addition, many state licensure boards require specific courses that are outside of the eight core areas of Professional Counseling.

Our program offers elective coursework that can help individuals who have earned a masters degree in counseling obtain clinical licensure and school certification in their respective state. The electives that we provide are the following:

Individuals who want to take courses to complete their licensure/certification requirements must apply to the Graduate School as a non-degree seeking student, the link to apply is provided below. Once admitted as non-degree seeking status, the Director of the Counseling Program must approve the student to take whichever courses they need. Please note that non-degree seeking students will only be approved to take a course if there is room available. The students enrolled in the Counseling Program at ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ will have first priority in order to keep them on track for graduation. In addition, non-degree seeking students are not eligible to take Practicum or Internship in the Counseling Program, nor can they take elective coursework in Psychology, Gerontology, or Marriage and Family Therapy through the Counseling Program. The tuition for non-degree students is the same as other students, $500 a credit hour.ÌýÌý
