Louisiana Residency

Louisiana Residency in accordance to UL System rules:

For tuition purposes, a student is considered a Louisiana resident if they have resided in Louisiana continuously for at least one full year immediately preceding the first day of classes of their chosen term.

Residence status does not apply if a student resides in Louisiana for the primary purpose of attending school, as students must show intent to remain in Louisiana through employment or residential records.

Students seeking to establish Louisiana residency for tuition purposes should complete ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥'s Residency Form, attaching all necessary documents, and return to the Office of Admissions. All documents will be reviewed and verified.Ìý

Students can show Louisiana residency for tuition purposes by providing documentation for several approved residency situations, including:

• Residing with a parent who qualifies as a Louisiana resident

• Being enrolled in 6 or fewer hours per semester while being employed in Louisiana for twelve consecutive months averaging 35 or more hours a week

• Having a military record listing Louisiana as Home of Record

• Having a spouse who qualifies as a Louisiana resident

• Residing with a legal guardian – granted through the courts prior to the student’s 18th birthday
