The Office of Sponsored Programs and Research announces the University of Louisiana Monroe has received Louisiana鈥檚 first Susan Harwood Training Grant funded by the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
聽John Herrock, director of the Asbestos and Mold Analysis Lab in the 蜜桔直播 College of Pharmacy, received $31,396 to develop training and educational materials for the OSHA website, .
聽The grant, titled "Occupational Hearing Loss and Noise Exposure," will cover strategies that can be implemented by employees and employers to prevent occupational noise-induced hearing loss. Herrock鈥檚 materials on osha.gov will include, according to the grant, 鈥渁 course matrix, PowerPoint presentations, instructor/student manuals, handouts, sign-in sheets, pre and post-tests and evaluations.鈥

"A grant from OSHA typically means additional funds from OSHA.聽 This is a beginning for 蜜桔直播 to influence policy across the U.S.,鈥 said OSPR Director John W. Sutherlin, Ph.D.
The Susan Harwood Training Grant Program is to help small businesses and other groups protect the health and safety of their employees by making high-quality safety and health training and training materials available at no cost.
