MONROE, LA – ۽ֱ is proud to present the Sound of Today Marching Band at the SOT Band Camp Showcase on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at 6:30 p.m. at Malone Stadium on ۽ֱ’s campus. The showcase is free and open to the public.

This showcase marks the Sound of Today’s first performance of the 2023 season and is sure to entertain the audience with their new fall show titled “Queens of Soul”. Popular tunes from Beyonce, Alicia Keys, Aretha Franklin and Patti Labelle are featured in the show.

“I am looking forward to the opportunity to show the community how hard the Sound of Today has worked at band camp in preparation for the 2023 season,” said Dr. Allen Parrish, Director of Athletic Bands. “Students spend countless hours during band camp working together creating something special to entertain thousands of Warhawk fans during the fall.”

There are approximately 125 students in the Sound of Today, with each student marching with the rich history of ۽ֱ’s marching band. This will be the band’s first time performing for the 2023 season, making it a special performance for the audience and members of the SOT.

The School of Visual and Performing Arts at the University of Louisiana Monroe aims to provide students with the highest level of arts education, research and educational opportunities to majors and minors. VAPA aims to offer curricular, co-curricular and extracurricular opportunities to students enrolled at ۽ֱ, as well as provide cultural activities, special events and performances for university, local and area communities. The School of Visual and Performing Arts aims to serve as an expert resource to school arts programs throughout the region. VAPA at ۽ֱ offers degrees in various disciplines in art and music as well as experiences in dance and theatre.
